Tree Day Home

2010 marks the 11th year of Toyota's support of Planet Ark's National Tree Day.

This annual community event has become an important activity in the Toyota calendar. Last year 167 Toyota Dealers answered the call to ‘dig in' and work with their local communities to plant native trees. In total, 300,000 volunteers planted more than 1.1 million native trees and shrubs at more than 3,750 sites nationwide, including 2,350 schools.

Toyota's long term partnership with Planet Ark and National Tree Day is a logical fit because of Toyota's genuine care and concern for the environment. Toyota has demonstrated its genuine global commitment to sustainability and minimising its impact on our environment through the creation of the Toyota Prius, the world's first mass-produced car to function on a combination of power from a petrol and electric engine and to reduce fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants.

Following the Prius, the Hybrid Camry became the first locally produced Hybrid vehicle when it rolled off the production line in Altona, Victoria in February 2010.

Just another way that Toyota is working for the environment.
